Meet Our Teachers

We’re excited to meet you!

At the top of the list when measuring the quality of a school has to be the quality of the teaching staff. St Joseph’s is beyond fortunate to have a team of teachers truly dedicated to positive outcomes for all children.

Meet our teachers below!

Leadership & Administration

Nicholas Boyhan

Nicholas Boyhan

Principal

The opportunity to teach is a great privilege. To journey with children and their parents is exciting and challenging while they grow and change. It is always interesting. It gives me great confidence in the future to know of the desire of our children to develop and use their skills and talents make the world a better place for all of us.

At St Joseph’s, when we enrol a child, we enrol the whole family. As the first educators of their children, parents play a crucial role, working with teachers and other school staff to support their children’s wellbeing and improve their learning outcomes. The primary school years are a journey we take together. With a relationship built on trust and mutual respect, we will take your child on an exciting journey of discovery and learning.

I encourage you to take up the opportunity to come and visit. Please book in online or contact the school office. You will be warmly welcomed.

Deputy Principal, Foundation

My name is Prue and I’ve been teaching at St Joseph’s for the past 7 years. St Joseph’s School is a great place to work and a fantastic community in which to belong. Being in such a beautiful bush setting makes teaching and working here very special. I am lucky to be  part of a wonderful team of dedicated staff who are really supportive and caring. These are some of the reasons why I enjoy being part of St Joseph’s School community. Outside of school I love to read, spent time with family, caravan and travel. I am lucky that I have a great garden where I love growing roses and camellia’s. My companion in the garden and around my home is my beautiful Border Collie.

Simone Traynor

Simone Traynor

2/3 class teacher

I started off my teaching career as a librarian and when I came over to St Joseph’s I became the ‘not so cool’ (so my daughter tells me) PE teacher.  After years of teaching in the classroom and after watching my own children graduate from St Joseph’s, I knew I was in the right community.  I feel lucky to be in a job where I can ’push’ my passion for books and sport to 20 different students every year.

Grade 3/4 Teachers

Pip Young

Pip Young

Classroom Teacher Grade 3/4

It is a privilege to teach in such a beautiful school environment. The grade 3/4 classroom provides a stimulating and safe learning environment for students during a stage in their lives of transformation and deep learning. The students are passionate and engaged and every day brings something new. St Josephs’ is a real community of learners, where students are respected, encouraged and challenged to be the best version of themselves.
Outside of school, I love to walk, often by the river, and have practiced yoga for as long as I can remember. I’m a passionate writer and reader, and I love music and dancing (and I love getting my students involved too!)

Grade 5/6 Teachers

Katie Vranken

Katie Vranken

5/6 teacher and Wellbeing Leader

Every day I love driving into the Valley to work.  When I arrive at school there are already many smiling faces of the students ready to learn.  I love the surroundings, the very happy students, the collaboration of staff and support of the families at St Joseph’s.  In my position as a Senior teacher I love working with the children in my class.  Every day they challenge me to become a better teacher.  I love their curiosity and eagerness to learn. In my Wellbeing role I love working with the families and students, especially during Friendship groups where we come together in small groups from Foundation to year 6.

Outside of school I love to be in my garden, spend time with my family and go on holidays.

The welcoming and warm community at St Joseph’s makes coming to work everyday a delightful experience. Working both in the classroom and as the Japanese teacher has allowed me to build relationships with all the students at the school, and bring Japanese out into the wider school community. Outside of school I enjoy reading, crafting and spending time outside in the garden with my family.

STEAM Specialist

Working at St Joseph’s is such a pleasure. I am fortunate enough to be able to not only work in a beautiful bush setting with wonderful staff and students but I am able to teach subjects which I am truly passionate about. I am so proud of the way our students combine science and art to make new discoveries and challenge themselves.
When I am not at school I enjoy creating my own art, building our tiny house with a giant garden (almost there), bush walking and spending time with my family and friends.

I enjoy working with students to build confidence and performance skills, culminating in our biennial whole school musical production.
I love helping develop the quality of the children’s singing, and seeing the enjoyment the choir brings to the various groups in the community for whom we perform.
When I’m not working, I love to travel and go to the theatre.

Library Technician

You can find magic wherever you look, sit back and relax, all you need is a book!”(Dr.Seuss)…and that’s where I come in. My favourite part of my job here is that I get to read some of the books while maintaining our wonderful collection, keeping it up-to-date, informative and appealing to the children. I hope to foster a love of books and learning through reading. I enjoy interacting with the children at lunchtime library times when they come in to explore, create or find a quiet, comfy spot to relax and read. This is a great opportunity for me to find out what the children’s interests are and plan for future new book additions to our library.  So when I’m not out enjoying the great outdoors, playing tennis or riding my bike, I’m encouraging children to read, which is another of my favourite things to do
